> Our Membership
The Audit Circle is not built for everyone in the profession — deliberately. It exists for the senior leaders carrying enterprise-wide assurance responsibility: Chief Audit Executives, Chief Internal Auditors, Heads of Internal Audit, and audit executives with direct access to the board.
Membership is intentionally narrow.

Who The Audit Circle Is For

The Audit Circle is not built for everyone in the profession — deliberately.

It exists for the senior leaders carrying enterprise-wide assurance responsibility:

  • Chief Audit Executives
  • Chief Internal Auditors
  • Heads of Internal Audit
  • Group Heads of Internal Audit
  • Directors of Internal Audit
  • Chief Risk & Audit Executives, where internal audit leadership is part of the mandate
  • Senior audit executives with enterprise-level responsibility
  • Audit executives with direct access to the board.

If you’re the person the audit committee turns to. The person the CEO tests decisions against. The person whose signature carries institutional weight — this was built for you.

It was never meant to be a large room. It was meant to be the right one.

Membership Criteria

A typical member should:

Every application is measured against one question: will this person make the room better?

In practice, that means looking for leaders who:

  • Hold significant organizational responsibility
  • Carry enterprise-level audit responsibility, with direct or indirect access to the board/ audit committee
  • Lead an internal-audit function
  • Influence senior executive decision-making
  • Operate inside organizations of real complexity — scale, geography, regulatory exposure
  • Be committed to continuous professional development as much as their function’s
  • Bring genuine experience and be willing to share, not only questions to ask
  • Value confidentiality as a discipline, not a formality
  • Contribute meaningfully to peers

Membership isn’t granted for seniority alone. It’s granted for the judgment, integrity and generosity a person brings into the room.

What We Deliver

Core Membership Benefits

Membership benefits are structured around six pillars — each one answering a need most CAEs already carry, whether or not they’ve said it out loud.

  • The Circle — You’re no longer the only person in the room who understands what this decision really costs.
  • The Chair — You’re challenged by someone with the standing to challenge you.
  • The Intelligence — You see the risk before your board asks why you didn’t.
  • The Lab — You rehearse the hard conversation before you have it for real.
  • The Network — You’re known by name across a continent of people who do what you do.
  • The Experience — You’re reminded, in person, that leading assurance was never meant to be led alone.
Our Levels of Engagement

Membership Tiers

Four tiers. Each one answers a different question about who you’re becoming — or, for organizations, who you’re prepared to back — not simply what you can access.

Circle Member —  “You’re no longer figuring this out alone.” Peer Circle · Digital community · Intelligence briefings · Resource Vault · Masterclasses · Member events

Circle Executive —  “You walk into the boardroom already three moves ahead.”
Everything in Circle Member, plus monthly private CAE advisory, quarterly strategic maturity assessment, priority event access, executive briefings

Circle Chair / Elite — By invitation – “You’re shaping what this profession becomes.” Prioritized private advisory · Advanced peer group · Boardroom simulations · Strategic audit-function reviews · Executive introductions

Corporate Membership —  “Your organization backs the leadership that protects it.”
Seats for your CAE, Deputy CAE and senior audit leaders · Coordinated onboarding and placement across your leadership cohort · Institutional access to Circle intelligence, benchmarking and research · A visible commitment to the continuity of your assurance leadership

How We transform You

Member Journey, Charter & Transformation

Membership begins with an application, because a Circle is only as strong as the discipline used to fill it.

Member Charter

Every member agrees to the same standard, regardless of seniority, sector or tenure.

We protect confidentiality.
We speak from experience.
We challenge ideas, not people.
We do not compete inside the Circle.
We do not use Circle information for commercial advantage.
We contribute before we consume.
We respect different perspectives.
We do not disclose another member’s issue outside the Circle.
We leave the room stronger than we entered it.

This is not a code of conduct. It’s what makes the room worth entering in the first place.

Member Transformation

Membership isn’t a static asset. It’s a rhythm.

Every month — a confidential peer Circle session, an Intelligence Brief, and a masterclass built around the issues actually on your desk.

Every quarter — a cross-Circle roundtable and an emerging-risk briefing that widens the room further.

Every year — a Strategic Maturity Assessment, the African CAE Benchmark, the Audit Circle Summit, and an invitation to the annual Retreat.

None of it exists to fill a calendar. All of it exists so that by the time you need a peer, a lead, or a second opinion — it’s already there.

01
Apply
Tell us about your role, your organization, and the challenges only a peer could really understand.
02
Be Selected
Every application is measured against seniority, complexity, integrity and what you bring to the room — not simply whether you can pay.
03
Be Diagnosed
Before your first session, you complete the CAE Strategic Maturity Index™ — a clear-eyed view of where your function stands today.
04
Be Oriented
A private induction into the Circle's philosophy, confidentiality standards, and the Issue Process™ that structures every session.
05
Be Placed
You're matched to a Circle by geography, seniority and sector — built for genuine peer compatibility, not convenience.
06
Arrive
Your first ninety days follow one arc: connect, contribute, challenge, create.
07
Be Reviewed
Every year, a CAE Growth & Influence Review — proof, in writing, of what membership actually changed.
